introducing vanessa

Hello there! My name is Vanessa. I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I began my education journey in Mira Mesa. I went to Ericson Elementary and middle school at Wangenheim. The summer before starting High School my family and I moved to Poway, where I attended Poway High. Right after graduating High School I started attending Cal State San Marcos. I just began the Credential Program. Although I did not start out with the Liberal Studies major I am very happy with the road I'm on.
My experiences with technology is not one that I would put up in the top ten. Although I do use computers on a daily bases and often get frustrated. I use a PC at home but I do work with Macs a tiny bit at my part time job (Graphic Design, Patera). I use the computer to email, keep in contact with my friends and family (ie: myspace), Webct, and much much more. I have Office 2003 but at school I use Office 2007. And the transition is quite difficult.
The overall Mission statement states that Cal State San Marcos is preparing students how to be a unbiased whole hearted teacher. There were two things that popped out to me; diversity and ongoing service. When teaching a class there will always be students who are visual and/or verbal learners. To be a well rounded teacher you need to keep diversity alive in your classroom by teaching things in many different ways. My personal opinion on ongoing service would be to just keep up with the new and improved teaching ideas and skills.
