introducing vanessa

Hello there! My name is Vanessa. I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I began my education journey in Mira Mesa. I went to Ericson Elementary and middle school at Wangenheim. The summer before starting High School my family and I moved to Poway, where I attended Poway High. Right after graduating High School I started attending Cal State San Marcos. I just began the Credential Program. Although I did not start out with the Liberal Studies major I am very happy with the road I'm on.
My experiences with technology is not one that I would put up in the top ten. Although I do use computers on a daily bases and often get frustrated. I use a PC at home but I do work with Macs a tiny bit at my part time job (Graphic Design, Patera). I use the computer to email, keep in contact with my friends and family (ie: myspace), Webct, and much much more. I have Office 2003 but at school I use Office 2007. And the transition is quite difficult.
The overall Mission statement states that Cal State San Marcos is preparing students how to be a unbiased whole hearted teacher. There were two things that popped out to me; diversity and ongoing service. When teaching a class there will always be students who are visual and/or verbal learners. To be a well rounded teacher you need to keep diversity alive in your classroom by teaching things in many different ways. My personal opinion on ongoing service would be to just keep up with the new and improved teaching ideas and skills.

Hi Vanessa, I am a liberal studies major as well and very happy with the path that it has put me on. I am glad to here that you are liking the credential program and happy with the decisions you have made in your life.

Hey Vanessa, I'm going to have to agree with you when it comes to technology, because I'm not very tech-savvy either! Besides surfing the web, I really don't know how to do much, though I am a Mac person at heart.

Hello love!!! Its quite a coincidence that we both grew up in Mira Mesa and went to the same middle school. I know our paths did not cross until a lot later in life, but it seems like we were always meant to meet! :)

I agree what you said about diversity in classrooms. It is important to teach students in ways that will help them learn and retain. We as teachers need to be able know how to teach so all students can be successful

I feel the same way about different learners in the class room. Some are visual while others listen. I agree that great teachers can effectively communicate to both learners using all the tools of technology and creativity so no student is left behind.
